Julia will be a senior at North Carroll this year.

She’s 100 % all- American . . .  gorgeous on the outside, sunny and funny on the inside.

We discovered through the course of our shoot that we have many friends in common . . . she chooses her friends well.

We did our shoot on a hot, hot August day, yet you’d never know by looking at Julia . . . she’s a Georgia peach.

This goat followed Julia around for most of her shoot. He even came into our gazebo and started nibbling on her toes :)

Julia’s images are straight out of the camera. I LOVE every perfect freckle on her rosy cheeks.

Beautiful through and through.

Zach will be a senior at North Caroll this year. Zach is one in a million. Great athelete. Seriously funny. Incredibly polite and friendly. Handsome and ,did I mention, tall?

Zach is also a huge baseball fan . . . my son, Will, talks baseball with Zach every chance he gets.

We chose McDaniel College, where Zach’s dad is the athletic trainer, for our shoot.

Zach and his best friend, Jon, scheduled their sessions back to back. Always more fun to have your best friend egging you on during your shoot :) Well, for part of it at least.

That’s why part two of this post is coming later . . . so much fun.

did I mention that I LOVE my job??

Jon is a Renaissance Man circa 2010. He’ll be a senior at Key this year.

In the last year alone, Jon has played the part of Peter in our town’s production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, led his school’s varsity soccer team, and served as camp counselor for a whole slew of tweeners in three Christian camps this year.

As far as the Freundel littles are concerned, Jon is a rock star who ALWAYS has time for a smile or a word of encouragement for each of them. He’s golden.

We did Jon’s senior session on campus at McDaniel . . . and it’ll be blogged in two parts. Stay tuned. We had a blast and you’ll see why in a bit.

Rachel. Sunny Side Up.

Rachel just turned sixteen. Remember her crazy murder mystery party?? She’s Enchanted’s Giselle in the flesh, and I promised that I’d do a quirky, funny photo shoot of her as Giselle.

But . . . that’s not how the day went. Rachel has so many facets . . . hard to believe she’s already only sixteen.

kathyfreundel-1

Pensive and reflective . . . I know when that facet shines, there are a million noble thoughts and dreams going in her head.

kathyfreundel-8

Here’s a little taste of the sweet sixteen party girl, Gisellesque Rachel.

kathyfreundel-7

Here’s the Jane Austen lovin’, girl after my own heart, escape in a great book Rachel. She’s more well read than I ever hope to be.

It’s one of her secret indulgences.

kathyfreundel-6

Lizzy Bennett. Scout Finch. Meg and Jo. and Jesus.

Friends she knows well.

kathyfreundel-2

pure.  gorgeous. sunshine.

kathyfreundel-9

We saw this sculpture from the side and both thought it was a rock climbing wall.

It was at the end of our very hot photo shoot but we couldn’t resist it!

There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart.

Katie’s senior session was a breathe of fresh air.

We had the best summer night to explore every part of Roop’s Mill.  We had beautiful sunset light, temps in the mid 70’s (in JULY!) and heard faint thunder rumblings only  at the end of our session. Senior Session Perfection :)

Katie will be a senior at Winter’s Mill High School, and is a lacrosse and hockey player.

She has the prettiest blue eyes, and her fresh, natural look is just gorgeous.

She is as pretty on the inside as she is on the outside.

Jenn. Sweet Sixteen.

Posted in Senior Sessions on September 14, 2008 by Kathy Freundel

Jenn is a natural in front of the camera. For her sweet sixteen, she wanted to do a studio and location  photo shoot.  So, we had a blast, getting props, scarves, and lots of wardrobe changes, and exploring the studio space. Afterwards, we headed out on the streets of our quaint town . . . to the church, to the playground . . .

This shoot was so much fun . . . what a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Linda and Wayne sure do adore their daughter. We found them enjoying an end-of-summer rain shower when we returned from our shoot.

And a special THANK YOU to Kim of Kimberely Brooke Photography for the use of her awesome studio.

Tait.

Tait. Renaissance Man.  More well read than I’ll ever be. Ties flies for fly fishing . . . he has all the authentic equipment. Started his own newsletter when he was a preteen . . . and that Tait can write! I had the pleasure of tutoring him a couple of years ago in writing. I saved all his papers, because when he is a famous writer I’ll be able to auction them on ebay and take a vacation to Provence. No kidding. Now Tait is a web designer, interning with one of the best in the area, and  a builder on a Habitat for Humanity team in Baltimore City.  Tait is a Huso. Huso is a legacy to live up to, and Tait is well on his way.

Tait and his Mom, Angie. She gets mucho credit for encouraging Tait to read voraciously and experience life fully.

(Just for the curious . . .yes, they homeschool . . .four kids, and Dad, Dave who is a doc at Hopkins is an integral part of their lives and schooling . . .they’ve never owned a television or a gaming system . . . they raise bees, they each have their own garden plot to experiment . . . one year they grew peanuts! . . . they joined a great books book club . . . our kids call the Huso home “magic,” because it is!)

When Katie was born, I was a single school teacher. I used to leave early for work a couple times a week so that I could go to her house and hold her after her morning feeding. Here she is . . . all grown into a beautiful woman. And her inner beauty far surpasses her outer beauty. She is kind, compassionate, and always for the misfit. She is brilliant, joyful and good at every single thing she tries must have some faults, but I haven’t found any yet. She wants to go into the medical field, (maybe a pediatrician?), she plays volleyball, hosts a girls’ Bible study in her home, and has the nicest friends in the world . . . her best friend is her sister, Rachel, and her MOM!  She has a real and authentic faith, and she’s not afraid to share it. Her life has not been easy, but she is a living example, that if you choose to focus on the joy, you will have a great life! Can you tell how much I adore her?  Katie.

This is my beautiful sis, Nancy. If I have the kind of relationship with my daughters that she has with Katie, I will be ecstatic!!

Posted in Senior Sessions on August 15, 2008 by Kathy Freundel

I’ve watched Kristin play volleyball at Winter’s Mill for the last three years . . . she is seriously good. For the past year, I’ve also had the pleasure to get to know Kristin through my niece, Katie.  I’ve taken her photos for the benefit Little Women production and the prom . . . I don’t think the girl can take a bad photo. Beautiful on the inside. Beautiful on the outside. Kristen.

I love the mother/ daughter part of the photo shoot. Kristin and her mom have a really comfy, kind relationship. In fact, Kristin’s whole family is just as warm and loving as she is!
